Jessica Chastain (born Jessica Chastain) is an acclaimed American film maker, actress and feminist. She has portrayed female characters in films that contain feminist themes. After seeing the US play 'Joseph and the Incredible Tecnhicolor Dreamcoat she was drawn to acting. Her first stage appearance was in a production of "Romeo and Juliet" and she also made her debut on film with the character of "Jolene". Her popularity increased with the roles she played in films, such as 'Take Shelter", 'The Help as well as 'Mama' and "Interstellar". In the category 'Best Actress she took home the Golden Globe Award in recognition of her role in the film "Zero Dark Thirty". The actress is known best for her performance as strong but flawed women. A lot of her characters are known because they promote feminist values. She is a vocal feminist who speaks out Her work has led her for her support of equality in pay. TIME magazine ranked her among the top ten most influential people in the world in 2012.
