Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father left the household, the actress was grew up by her mother grandparents, and godparents. In her early years, she battled an obsessive-compulsive disorder and suffered anxiety linked to word associations. Ford began performing in her teen years and joined a member of the National Youth Theatre. She gained admission to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but after just a few days, decided that she would not be a good for the school. Ford then applied for a place at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was accepted on her 4th attempt. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. However, prior to that, Ford made a television debut when she appeared in Surgical Spirit in an episode that aired in 1990. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in TV shows such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London's Burning in the Nineties. Tate also performed regularly at the theater, ultimately being a part of in the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. But Tate was soon gaining notice for her stand-up comedy that she incorporated into her show in 1996.
