Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. Kotero was also a co-star in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain. She was the lead female vocalist for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. Apollonia was christened as an actress and female singer by Prince. In the '80s Apollonia was one of numerous artists who benefited from Prince. She was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model and actress towards the end of the 1970s including an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. The lead female character in Prince's Purple Rain was her first performance in 1984. Prince changed the girl's name during this time. She was replaced by Vanity with the female trio Vanity 6 who performed in the film with Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter, the group's minor smash hit in the film's soundtrack, was her biggest chart success. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince following differences throughout the course of her professional career. Apollonia 6 broke up following their disagreement. In the wake of appearing in minor film (and reportedly refusing to be a part in the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) She was part of the 1985-1986 evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia made her debut album in 1988, but it was a fairly pedestrian collection of R&B/dance music which did not impress the public. The album was quickly wiped out of sight. Apollonia remained in the spotlight (if a little under the radar) as an actress in the decade that followed, with a few television roles and minor films and even issued the exercise film. In 1997 Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish named Stay with me. Then, she went back to college and received a filmmaking degree. In addition, she founded her own production company.
